Local Searches Speeding up!

Share/Bookmark

Optimizing website for generic terms is becoming more and more competitive with time. If we look at the categories where websites are in tug-of-war kind of situation, we ll find that it has almost reached to the saturation level where entering of a new website and getting rank in first 3 pages i.e. first 30 ranks, for the base terms in the category, is no more practical.

On the other hand, Google and Yahoo, by default, open local search engine by default. For example, as soon as you hit www.google.com in your browser, you will find it auto-redirecting itself specific to your location. Now try to find what you are looking for… The top couple of links will be from google local listing, with maps. Most of the time search results are dominated by local shops.

This is giving us clear indication that a trend is already set by Major Search Engines to provide a mix of localized results for search terms and the online leaders for search terms. Gradually with time, as more and more competition will arise, these search engines have to go more concentrated on local results.

Even what I mentioned may not entirely right as it is, but we all know that Traffic and No: of clicks a website receiving from search results are major factor for its future ranking. As people will always like to prefer get connected with the local vendors, the website with local address or content targeting that particular location will be searched more, clicked more… and thus gain ranks.
